Julia is a new plus-size model in the Boston area and
is looking for her first big break. A self-described ham,
this 5'8" size 14's inner beauty is what really shines.
PM: Tell us a little about yourself.
JB: I grew up in a small suburb of Boston with my mom
and two sisters. I now work as a designer for a consulting
firm. I have always had a passion for modeling and as a child
was such a ham in front of the camera.
PM: What steps have you taken to pursue a modeling career?
JB: When I was young I had some pictures taken by a professional
photographer. While I felt they were really nice, I never
took any steps at that point to further a career in modeling
or print work. I now have done some film work and still shots
for a project that my company is working on and I've had so
much fun doing it. I also received such positive feedback
it helped me to realize my potential for doing more of this
type of work.
PM: Why are you pursuing modeling?
JB: While I have such a creative side to me as a designer
in my current profession, it doesn't drive me the way I feel
when I get to recreate myself behind the camera. As a plus
model I feel it is such an important message to send that
you can be confident and beautiful as you are. I know I can
realize my full potential as a model and come across in my
pictures as the confident, beautiful, aspiring person that
I am. Hopefully I can be an inspiration for those who are
not living up to their full potential and "Go For It".
PM:
Talk about a memorable experience you have had in your modeling
pursuits
JB: For me, it is about confidence. If you don't believe
you have what it takes and go forward, then nobody will. I
was in a situation where a close friend of mine was asked
to do a photo shoot. She was a female bodybuilder (size 4)
and had just won a competition. She asked if I would accompany
her as her make-up artist. When we got to the photo shoot
I fullfilled my obligation and did her make-up and she looked
great! It came as such a surprise to me when the photographer
asked if I was a model, and could he take pictures of me.
I was flattered and we took about 100 shots that day. He sent
me the proofs weeks later and I was so happy with the results!
I felt this is what I was meant to do. I had so much fun that
day and even though I was there in a support role, I was recognized
for my beauty and charisma! You just never know what wil!
l happen..
