PM: What types of modeling have you done?
CE: Local fashion Local runway (mall or single store)
PM: How did you get started in modeling?
CE: 2001 is when I started modeling for Ford. Before that
I had always dreamed to be in the fashion industry. I had gave pictures
to some people in the business, and also interviewed with a agency.
I was told I was to "FAT". (I do not like that word, blah!) So I
took my dream and kept it there. Then one day I said to myself,
I am in control of this situation and I either can leave it as a
dream or go and make it reality. I would have to say that when my
mind was made up that is when it all started. (My Thanks to Ford
/ Robert Black). I think it is wonderful to dream. But don't think
your dream is not worth making a reality, I didn't and I am so happy!!
PM: How did you find pictures for mail-ins?:
CE: I had some semi-professional head-shots for acting that
I used at first. Then I had a professional photographer take some
pictures of me too. I had some of the pictures enlarged to 5x7.
I then went to a local business supply store and had them colored
copied. Since then I have had professional head-shots made and comp-cards
made.
PM: What was your first agency visit/open call like?
CE: When Ford / Robert Black called me to come in and talk to
them I felt like a million bucks. I was so excited. I was called
in for the talent side, but also wanted to model for them. I would
have to say that my nerves were a little crazy, but I kept thinking
that this is it, and this is the begining of my dream turning into
a reality. I guess all went well because I was handed a contract
then. Since being with that agency, I have started both of my long
time dreams and they are real now.
PM: From the time you first started looking, how long did it
take you to find representation?
CE: I sent my letter of interest to the agency, with my resume
(with little experience) and my head shot. The third submission
I was called. I never gave up. I started sending them a submission
about every 2 months. It seemed long but it was good because I was
able to improve my skills for when I was called in to interview.
PM: What was your very first paying job and how long did it
take you to get it after you found an agency?
CE: My first paying job was a department store fashion show.
I was with Ford/ Robert Black for about a year before I started
to model for them. But since I have started the modeling they keep
me busy. I LOVE IT!!!
PM: How often do you work?
CE: I work about 1-2 times a week. But that sometimes can
go in sperts. You can be busy, busy. Then nothing. I have felt very
lucky that I have been busy lately.
PM: What are your long term goals in the industry?
CE: My long term goals are to acheive the goals I have set
for myself in the industry. Some of those goals are to work abroad.
I also love to act and I want to be cast in a Ron Howard film. Also,
to co-star with Kathy Bates. What would be even better is to be
in a Ron Howard film with Kathy Bates. (OH YEA!!!) Is being a plus
size model as exciting as you thought it would be?: Yes, not only
for the fun of meeting great
PM: Is being a plus size model as exciting as you thought it
would be?
CE: Yes, not only for the fun of meeting great people and
wear fun clothes, but knowing that I can do it and that just because
I am a plus size, does NOT mean I am boring and can't participate
in the fashion industry.
PM: What advice would you give to the aspiring/beginning plus-size
model?
CE: If you want it, go for it!!! There are alot of people
that will want to take advantage of you so always reserch your agencies.
In this industry, doors will close but that is ok, because a better
one will open. Take all your experience good or bad and learn from
them. Look at it as free education. You deserve the BEST!!!
