With her stunning smile, expressive eyes and unrelenting ambition, this 5'8" size 14 Canadian model is well on her way to making her mark on the plus modeling world.

PM: Tell us a little about yourself.
AH: I moved to Toronto last year to get a taste of big city life. After being a model search winner for a national plus-size retail chain, I wanted to look into whether or not I should pursue anything further in the modeling industry.

PM: What steps have you taken to pursue a modeling career?
AH:
When I first came to Toronto, I went to some agencies and got represented by a small agency which didn't really have a 'plus' division, but did a lot of commercial work. I tested with some not so great photographers, and probably spent a little too much for them, but it's all great experience regardless! I got a few commercial jobs but realized that I wanted to be with a larger agency, so I am currently seeking new representation.

PM: Why are you pursuing modeling?
AH:
I think it's really important that curvy women push to be represented in the fashion and commercial markets. I worried about my weight thoroughout my childhood and high school years, and looking back realized I wasn't overweight at all. By showing many different body types, we reach out to everyone and tell them it's okay if you're not perfect, and that we should celebrate our differences in size and also our ethnicities. Oh...and I also LOVE being in front of the camera!!!

PM: Talk about a memorable experience you have had in your modeling pursuits
AH:
Because I'm still very new, I don't have a lot of experience. But I think when you are finally ready to get some professional photos done, GET A STYLIST! Do it right the first time, if you're going to invest your money, make sure you research and get references about the people you are hiring, remember that they are working for you!

Remember too that it's not all about fun, sun, make-up, & clothes..it's hard work! A commercial job that I had actually stained my skin with a red/orange tint for two days (and one of the day's my friend threw a huge surprise birthday bash for me, UGH!)

So there are sacrifices, I can tell you so far that especially on the PM Forum, there is great advice and support from people who know what they are talking about. Knowledge is power!
