I've pursued modeling as a hobby for the past few years. I have done two print jobs for Crowley's, a fashion show for Kmart, a Weight Watchers commercial, and just booked a series of formal and informal fashion shows with Jacobson's. Are you currently represented? Yes. I am represented by the Talent Shop here in the Detroit area. None of the other agencies would work with me because they said I wasn't "plus enough!" I never thought I would hear that! How did you first become interested in modeling? I sent in some photos at the suggestion of a friend, not thinking that much would come of it. I got callbacks from all the agencies I sent to but as I said, only The Talent Shop would represent me. I am really interested in pursuing modeling more heavily but I'm not sure where to start. Why do you want to work more as a plus-size model? I'd like to work more as a plus model because I think people my size are a more fair representation of who is really out there buying all those clothes. I mean, I notice the stores never seem to run out of "extra smalls" or "size 2s" yet the 12s and 14s always seem to be missing....that's because WE - the so-called 'plus' size women - are buying them off the racks! I would just like someone to see my picture and think, "hey, there's a normal looking model, for a change!" What else do you want to tell the modeling world about yourself? I would love to pursue modeling further. I need to get some more recent photos taken - I'm on the lookout for a good photographer that won't empty my pockets! I have heard that some areas, like Detroit, are interested in sizes 16 and up, and some others, like Chicago, are more interested in 12 to 14. So I keep hearing all these things and I get confused....but I will work wherever I can find it! It's a lot of fun to walk around in nice clothes and get paid for it! :)
